Zeiss Distagon Vintage EF Lens Kit (8 Lenses)
15, 18, 28, 35, 50, 85, 100, 135mm
Originally made for Nikon photography, these Zeiss ZF have been re-mounted to fit Canon EF and de-clicked for use with video, creating a smooth iris ring, alongside smooth focus for fully manual Cine style lenses.
These lenses offer incredible image capture and a vintage feel with the classic Zeiss look – slightly more steely than the warm skin tones of Canon.
A brilliant option for EF shooting, when you want a vintage feel but on a budget, with an extensive kit of 15mm, 18mm, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, 100mm Macro, and 135mm.
The small depth of field that is achievable is outstanding, and they create a beautiful bokeh which gives your images a filmic and stylish look. This ‘Zeiss look’ has been a staple of video production, and with Distagon glass (the same style used in the incredible Zeiss Superspeeds) and Planar/Sonnar further up the focal ranges, you can get a wonderful vintage look for your project without being too extreme, and without denting your budget.
One thing to bare in mind that as they were originally Nikon-made, the focus goes the opposite way to Canon. This is something you get used to very quickly when shooting, but you want to avoid mixing with Canon-made lenses as going from one to the other can be tricky to focus.
The 15mm in particular is a beautiful lens, giving a lovely wide angle look without ugly distortion and a crisper, cleaner image that many wide angles, and at f2.8 it’s pretty fast for something so nice and wide.
The 100mm Macro is also a fantastic option for a Macro lens. Doesn’t allow to you quite as close as the Canon L Series 100mm Macro, but optically produces a slightly nicer overall image than the Canon.
