One of the best wide angle lenses ever made. This lens is almost as sharp as a prime lens throughout it's zoom range.
The mark 2, released in 2012, includes a number of nice tweaks and improvements on the mark 1, further improving the optical quality.
For use on cameras such as the Canon C300 and Canon 5D Mk II the shots produced are outstanding.
The 24-105 Canon F4 IS lens is a fantastic standard zoom lens. It is wide enough for most cicumstances, and gives a much longer reach than the very well respected 24-70.
The addition of image stabilisation gives many advantasges, including a huge rise in image quality from DSLR, such as the Canon 5D Mk II and Canon 7D.
Phillip Bloom has stated this is one of his favourite lenses. It is lighter and shorter than the 24-70, and on a crop factor lens has a similar image quality.
Even though F4 is slower than a standard F2.8, the background blur achievable at 105mm at F4 is almost the same as 70mm at F2.8. The low light performance of modern cameras such as the C300 is so good that F2.8 is often unnecessary and in many circumstances gives you an unusable depth of field.
We use this lens and the 24-70 and have found strengths and weaknesses to both lenses.
One of the most popular zoom lens ever made. Excellent zoom range makes it perfect for close ups and also for interviews.
With Image Stabalisation. (non-IS version available for £30)
The DSLR that really made waves, and continues to be a great option for Photography and Video without breaking the budget. It has a full frame 22.3 megapixel sensor and 24mbit/s 1920x1080 HD video, with the ability to output 8bit 422 video to an external recorder via HDMI. However the internal video recording quality is still good enough for a majority of uses, particularly online, and it's low light performance and classic Canon colour science produces brilliant images. So if you're not looking for 4K video, and just want nice skintones, classic Canon-look HD video, and incredible photography options, this may well be the camera for you.
This has been a staple of the DSLR Market for years, and although there are newer models out there (if you want to increase the specs then I recommend checking out the 5D Mark 4) this still has a very strong role to play.
